Consent granted!!!!!!

We picked up the DA today - consent has been granted!!! It may have taken 5 months rather than the 4-6 weeks we expected, but we finally have the consent!

The ball is back in our court now - we need to get the plans drawn up properly, start getting some quotes and submit the construction certificate. We've been told it shouldn't take as long for the construction certificate - does that mean only 4 months??! :)

Still waiting...

6 weeks on and we're still waiting...

In the meantime, we've been setting up and testing the equipment. It's really helping working out how we'll set up the kitchen if / when we get to go ahead.. Most of our equipment has been sourced from Mark's Home Brew

Finally some piccies..

Fingers crossed please!

We have submitted the DA to council for consideration. If this is approved, it will let us run the microbrewery as a "home activity".

It took a few weeks to get organised due to work commitments and also waiting on a phone call back - why don't people ring you back when you leave them a message??!

A few wins..

The first big one - we have a website! It will grow as the business does, but you can see us at www.tolhousebrewing.com.au.

After being sidetracked with Xmas and holidays, we finally met with council this morning to go over the DA before we submit it. They were quite helpful and gave us a few more pointers of things to include. We're planning to submit that next week, and all going well should get approval in 4-7 weeks. In the meantime we'll be getting things ready to lodge the Construction Certificate when the DA is approved.

We have a name!

We are now officially 'The Tolhouse Brewing Company' - we have a business name, ABN and domain name registered!

We also have a double pot sink - we bought it on eBay and Pete drove up to Brisbane to pick it up!

The Alcohol Industry Group have approved our brewhouse design in principal which was great news. Next step is to fill out the DA and have a meeting with council before we submit it.

Ball is slowly rolling..

We've only just come back from a trip to Adelaide which turned into a micro-brewery tour! We managed to see quite a few microbreweries, sample heaps of beer and were able to have a great chat to the brewers or owners. What a friendly bunch the microbrewers are!

So thanks to all the people we spoke with at Grumpy's Brewhaus (Hahndorf), The Steam Exchange at Goolwa, Port Dock Hotel (Port Adelaide), The Barossa Brewing Company (Greenock), and Lovely Valley Brewery (Fleurieu Peninsula).

Since we've been back we've been busy matching our brewhouse design with council requirements, spoken to the accountant about our business structure, we've registered for a business name (it's not back yet) and have been researching labels etc.
